If you are someone who struggles with acne, I know exactly how you feel. I struggled with it for more than twenty years.
It didn’t really clear up until my late 30’s. Every time I was in the drug store, I was looking at the face care products wondering if they might work to help my skin finally clear up.
What was the real difference between the products? Did they all claim to do the same thing? But, some of the products just cost more than others because you were paying for a name brand.
So, how do you know what works for you?
Well, as someone who tried it all. you need to find out what works for you. Some acne sufferers, with more mild cases will see their skin clear up with a cleanser that you purchase at the drug store.
If your acne is more severe, then it is most likely best to consult a dermatologist for a recommendation on the best face wash to clear up your skin.
So, if you can purchase the products at the drugstore, you need to look for the following
THE RIGHT INGREDIENTS
Choose a cleaner with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients are gentle on the skin but also effective at cleaning clogged pores and ‘killing” bacteria that is trapped in the pores of your skin.
GENTLE ON YOUR SKIN
Avoid treatments that would irritate your skin. When you have acne, the skin is already “inflamed”. You don’t want to put a treatment that would cause your skin to burn even more. The temptation is there (I did it) to want to put what ever you can on your skin to get rid of these bumps.
But, putting something harsh on the skin will not make your acne go away. It will only make them more red and then you will want to itch. And, touching them only transfers the germs from your hands onto your skin.
The cleanser should also contain ingredients like lanolin that will hydrate your skin. You don’t want to just strip your skin but also nourish it. When you have acne, the tendency is to want to use products that won’t leave your skin feeling nourished. You don’t want to add anything extra that makes your skin feel oily. But, these additional ingredients will help to calm your skin after it has been cleaned.
Also, don’t try to cover everything up with a bunch of makeup. This will only clog up your pores rayand cause more breakouts.
The best thing is to get professional advice. If you don’t have insurance-I didn’t-look online for free advice as to the best products that will help to nourish your skin.
